When someone makes more fuss about something than it ist worht, he ist doing an Affentanz. When there is a great effort to reach a ridiculous goal, that's an Affentanz.
It literaly means: "Monkey's dance."

a noun, mostly used in the phrase "ins Fettnäpchen treten", (to step into the Fettnäpfchen). It is used to describe a person, who screws up as often as he cans without intending to do so. If, for example, you tell a chesse producer, (without knowing that he is a cheese producer), that you hate cheese, than you stepped into the Fettnäpfchen.
