An Unternehmer in German is exactly what is traditionally called an entrepreneur in English.
I just like the similarity between unter-nehmer and under-taker, which translates practically literally into English (unter = under, nehmer = taker).
After all, all undertakers are Unternehmers, but not all entrepreneurs are undertakers. :)
Entrepreneur is a loan word from French, so why not take the German one? ;)
